Abstract

In this study, we focused on the reactive processing of the PA6,6/PP blends and the resulting structure-fracture property relationship. Notched Charpy impact strength and J-integral fracture toughness were determined for the impact modified PA6,6/PP blends. A fracture mechanics approach based on the J-integral analysis was employed to measure the fracture initiation toughness, J C, and the fracture propagation toughness characterized by the tearing modulus, T R, of the polymers. Negative deviations from component toughnesses were obtained but PP-rich blends exhibited large tearing modulus values.
