Pyroelectric properties and AC impedance study of bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) ceramics

The pyroelectric properties of bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) ceramics has been investigated over temperatures between 25 °C and 180 °C. AC impedance spectra have been measured over a wide frequency range from 2 mHz to 100 kHz. The results have been analyzed with respect to permittivity, conductivity, impedance and electric modulus. Based on an equivalent circuit model the bulk resistance Rbulk has been obtained from extrapolation of their Cole-Cole plots. It has been found that Rbulk decreases rapidly with increasing temperature. Origins of the observed results were discussed.
