Abstract
This paper continues the series on haematological malignancies which began in the issue of August 2, and is the first of two papers looking at the psychological impact of bone marrow transplantation. It describes the psychological stages of bone marrow transplantation, the stresses and responses, as well as the patient's psychological reaction to isolation therapy.
