Abstract
To improve the photostability of wool fiber which is sensitive to photocatalytic activity of TiO2, core-shell structured TiO2@SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were fabricated. Crystal types of TiO2 were characterized by XRD. TEM images were taken to reveal the structures of TiO2 before and after silica coating. UVVis spectra and phtocatalytic activity properties of TiO2 before and after silica coating showed the coreshell structure endowed TiO2 NPs with high transmittance, strong UV-shielding, and low photocatalysis properties, which are ideal for protecting wool against photoyellowing from sunlight.
