Abstract

A novel approach was developed for preparing functional latex particles with narrowly distributed particle size and controllable amount of aldehyde groups on the particle surface. The content of aldehyde groups on the particle surface can be tailored from 2.7 × 10-5 to 1.67 × 10-4 (mol/g) depending on the oxidant concentration and reaction time.
