Abstract

In this paper, the precracked tearing behavior of bi-axial warp knitted fabric coated with PVC under bi-axial and multi-axial loads was investigated and compared. The typical precracked tearing load-elongation curves under biaxial and multi-axial loads were presented and studied. The results showed that the precracked tearing properties under multi-axial loads are better than those under bi-axial loads. Moreover, the precracked tearing strength decreases with the increase of initial crack length and the crack propagation depends on the initial crack orientation.
