Abstract

The design of a 2.4 kW power charger for electric vehicle lead-acid battery pack was discussed. Topics were focused on the phase-shifted resonant converter employed in the charger, including circuit operation and optimisation, parameters design and soft-switching. The charging manner includes constant current/voltage charge, float charge and trickle charge. Design method and experimental results were presented. High efficiency is obtained. The overall performance for battery charging is good and the efficiency is very high. The vehicle installed with the battery charger has been tested on the road successfully.
