Abstract
Application of LaAlO3/SrTiO3interfacial two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) as a polar molecule sensor is demonstrated. The sensing mechanism is due to the formation of a metal-semiconductor Schottky junction when the center of LaAlO3surface is covered with polar molecules such as water. These results also evidence the existence of a polarization field inside the LaAlO3layer. KGaA, Weinheim.
