Abstract

Laboratory soil nail pull-out tests were carried out in the soil mechanics laboratory of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The influences of overburden pressure, degree of saturation of soil and grouting pressure on the pull-out behaviour and resistance were investigated. In this paper, the design of the pull-out box, test procedures and typical test results are described and discussed. The main observations from the tests are presented.
