abstract = "This paper presents a near-field photonic pillar array for particle sorting. The phonic pillar array is generated based on the evanescent coupling in a nano-waveguide array. When particles with different sizes are flowing through the array, they undergo different optical force and hence are separated. The size of each pillar can be changed from 9.8 to 5.3 μm by changing the refractive index from 1.332 to 1.430. In the experiment, the 2-μm and 0.5-μm particles are successfully separated by the photonic pillar arrays. This method has high potential in nanoparticle and biomolecule sorting.",
