N2 - Contactless 3D fingerprints can be matched using a range of methods, other than direct recovery and matching of minutiae in 3D space. This chapter details on alternative 3D fingerprint matching methods that are attractive because of their efficiency, binary surface code-based approach and its variants, along with tetrahedron-based matching approach. Methods detailed in this chapter offer computationally efficient alternatives that can justify their potential usage in a range of e-business or other civilian applications.
