Abstract
Three criterions are presented for optical fibers to construct two-mode fiber interferometers. Polarization maintaining two-mode photonic crystal fiber (PMTMPCF) is preferred because it can be designed and fabricated to satisfy the criterions. A 3-step process is proposed for designing a PMTMPCF. An optimized PCF and its two-mode interference properties are reported.
