Abstract
This study addresses the utilization of drone technology in the food delivery market, specifically in the context of cooperative delivery riders and drones. Existing models primarily focus on parcel delivery, while the applicability of drones in the food delivery sector remains underexplored. We introduce the One-to-one Pickup and Delivery Problem (PDP), considering practical large-scale scenarios. The problem involves multiple drones collaborating with riders, with rendezvous at docking hubs. We formulate the problem as a mixed integer linear programming model and propose an Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search (ALNS) algorithm for efficient solution. Numerical experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the ALNS algorithm, and case studies explore optimal design and the benefits of integrating riders and drones under various demand conditions.
