Abstract

The optimum design of a resonant inductor for multi kilowatt series resonant and resonant link circuits is a difficult problem. This is especially so for space applications where the weight-efficiency function must be optimised. The paper describes the design optimisation for toroidal inductors, using stranded conductors on a low permeability core. Core loss and d.c. and a.c. copper losses are taken into account.
