Optimisation of colour yield of ink-jet printed cotton fabric with reactive dyes

The influence of operational factors, i.e. the content of pre-treatment paste and the duration of steaming time, on the colour yield of reactive dyes in ink-jet printing were studied through full factorial experimental design. It was previously revealed that the amount of urea used in the pre-treatment paste was dominantly an important operational factor for the ink-jet printing of a cotton fabric. This paper was aimed to further study the urea factor and its interaction effect between other contents inside the pre-treatment paste and the operation condition with respect to the colour yield of ink-jet printing using reactive dyes for four primary colours (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black). The optimised conditions for the colour yield of the four primary colours were obtained by response surface experimental design technique.
