Abstract

This paper considers productivity optimization for serial processes for which multiple outputs of one process become the inputs for the next process. Throughput planning amounts to deciding the relative proportions of outputs to target for production during a cycle. A linear programming model is proposed for optimal throughput planning. Illustrative data and computational results are shown.
