Abstract

This paper explores optimal pricing strategies for competitive transport modes, using logit-based stochastic user equilibrium (SUE) models. To consider a simplified network that contains a transit link and a parallel highway, various pricing strategies are devised to improve the net social benefit. It is demonstrated that how social optimum can be achieved by optimal pricing strategies in a competitive transport system with elastic travel demand. The proposed models are illustrated and discussed with numerical examples.
