Abstract

This study presents on-line small signal perturbation tests that were performed to identify dynamic model parameters of an almost 16 years old gas turbine synchronus machine at Ambarli Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant in Turkey. Dynamic characteristic of the generator was measured by giving external step changes to the reference voltage of the excitation control system through a signal generator. A time-domain approach was utilized to identify the parameters of the synchronous machine d- and q-axis equivalent circuits. The results are compared with the available data that verified by the manufacturer 8 years ago. Successful results encourage further studies including parameter identification of generator control systems.
