Abstract

Evacuation patterns in an atrium under fire were simulated using buildingEXODUS as the simulation tool. An atrium of length 91 m and width 19.8 m was taken as an example. In addition to evacuation under normal condition, two fire scenarios with the fire placed at different positions were considered. It is found that when a fire is located near an exit door, the evacuation pattern should be carefully considered.
