Abstract
Miscible displacement of magnetic fluids in a radial flow is investigated by means of highly accurate numerical schemes. Vigorous fingering instability is observed due to both the viscous contrast and external magnetic field if the less viscous fluid is the displacing force. However, the magnetic enhanced instability is found to be not very significant and the viscous fingerings dominate the flow field in the range of magnetic field strength simulated in the present study. The magnetic instability is more pronounced without the injecting flow, which corresponds to the labyrinthine instabilities.
