Abstract

In this paper, a new compact silencer for industrial internal combustion engines is designed through optimization of the current mark silencers. By optimizing the main factors influencing the reduction of noise in the silencers the compact unit is achieved at a higher performance to cost ratio. Due to the use of optimized internal tubes in addition to perforated inlet and outlet pipes, the proposed compact silencer is more quiet and smaller in size. By using the engine's speed and its volumetric flow rate, optimum volume of the silencer is implemented. The optimum noise reduction and optimum silencer volume results in a compact silencer with smaller volume and lower cost. Besides, experimental designs are carried out to validate the correctness of the theoretical analysis.
