Abstract

In this paper, a computing model of a Schwedler spherical reticulated shell (SSRS) is constructed. Firstly, based the software ANSYS, an elastic buckling analysis on SSRS is carried out, and the first three critical loads of the original design project are obtained. Secondly, with the first mode of eigenvalue analysis on SSRS as the initial disfigurement, nonlinear buckling loads are obtained by nonlinear buckling analysis. Lastly, an optimum design is presented as a result of the nonlinear buckling analysis on SSRS, and some conclusion can be used in engineering design.
