Abstract

Theoretical analysis on buoyancy-induced turbulence encountered in building services engineering, especially air flow induced by fire or heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems in fire engineering and airconditioning design should be studied. Three areas are suggested: .Renormalization group analysis on turbulence. .Langevin molecular dynamics simulation on turbulent flow under the influence of buoyancy, surface roughness of boundary and thermal fluctuation. .Theoretical analysis on turbulent mixing caused by Rayleigh-Taylor and Richtmyer-Meshkov instabilities. The objective of this short note is to point out the necessity of studying the above.
