Abstract

This paper presents an example of monitoring the corrosion process with NDT techniques. The impressed current technique was used for accelerating reinforcement corrosion in a large-sized concrete slab with chloride contamination. Periodic NDT-CE inspections were carried out making use of ground penetrating radar (GPR), ultrasonic echo array and half-cell potential measurement. The work presents an example of monitoring the corrosion process with NDT techniques and shows the way to the ultimate goal of finding objective tools to evaluate the corrosion state. The work was carried out during the Initial Training Network SmartEN, funded by the European Commission.
