Abstract

Hong Kong is a global base for original equipment toy manufacturing and is striving to diversify to original design manufacturing and original brand manufacturing. This paper describes a multi-disciplinary toy design engineering approach to a Higher Diploma level vocational training programme with the necessary attributes to help Hong Kong's toy industry during this transition. After giving the rationale for developing a toy-specific and multi-disciplinary programme, the curriculum and the experience in running such a programme are discussed.
