Abstract

This chapter aims to use the fuzzy inference system to aid the decision-makers/stakeholders to select the best renewable energy scenario among multiple alternatives. First the principle of fuzzy set theory and fuzzy inference system has been presented, and then Fuzzy Logic Toolbox of Matlab is used to show how it can be used to select the best scenario among multiple alternative renewable energy systems, and an illustrative case with 13 renewable alternatives for electricity generation have been studied. The proposed method is simple and scientific for the decision-makers/stakeholders to determine the best renewable energy system accurately, and it can also incorporate the opinions of the decision-makers in the fuzzification process and the ‘IF-THEN’ rules.
