Abstract

The main outcome of the paper includes the followings: First of all, a structural health monitoring(SHM) system consisting of various sensors(including the GPS et al.) was being implemented to the Guangzhou new TV tower(GNTVT). Secondly, making use of an output-only modal identification algorithm(frequency domain decomposition-FDD), the first ten modal parameters of GNTVT were identified by using the measured acceleration responses acquired during the typhoon periods. Finally, the structural responses and dynamic characteristics during the typhoons were presented by using figures, tables and finite element model. The results of the paper have dual meanings of theory innovation and practice instruction.
