Abstract

In this paper, an isotropic damage evolution equation for high impact polystyrene (HIPS) is proposed, based on the continuum damage theory and experimental results, which could be used to describe the damage development processes in the materials. Using this model, the effects of damage on localized deformation and material properties are discussed, and some useful results are obtained.
