Abstract

Metallic fibrous filter has been used to control the particulate emission of the in-use or the aged diesel vehicles in Hong Kong SAR. In this study, a numerical model, which coupled a stream flow model and a particle deposition model, was established to simulate the filtration process inside such kind of filter. Simulated efficiency results were compared and validated by the data from engine tests. The simulation model was well supported by the experiment and was hopefully to be used as a parametric analysis tool for the filter design.
