Abstract

In this chapter, recent developments on antimicrobial textiles, as well as microencapsulation technologies, will be reviewed. The first section is a summary on the key and important concepts of antimicrobial finishing and current finishing technologies that are used in the textile industry. The second section provides a discussion on microencapsulation techniques for antimicrobial textiles in terms of topical applications for hygiene purposes and applications for health and protection.
