Abstract

This chapter introduces research on metaphors in Chinese, encompassing both theoretical and applied studies of metaphor, with a particular focus on metaphor research in the fields of computational linguistics, psycholinguistics and lexical semantics. Cultural and cross-cultural analyses of metaphors are also presented, along with a brief overview of metaphor studies in translation, advertising, and counselling.
