Metallosupramolecular complexes derived from functionalized pyridyl ligands

Abstract

Metal complexes containing pyridyl ligands or alike continue to arouse constant and general interest in coordination and metallosupramolecular chemistry. Linking transition metal center(s) and various functional chromophores together with these pyridine-based ligands allows communication between them, usually leading to intriguing photophysical and redox properties. We have developed several metallosupramolecular coordination assemblies incorporating electronically coupled photo- and/or redox-active sites capable of performing interesting physical and materials properties. Here the synthesis, characterization, crystal structures, optical spectroscopy and electrochemistry of a series of homometallic and heterometallic complexes containing some ferrocenyl or anthryl entities will be described.
