Abstract

In this chapter we examine critically recent literature on depression among Hong Kong youths in order to clarify misconceptions about the incidence rate in this specific group to highlight some of the main correlates and predictors for depression in the local context to present some of the interactions between depression, coping strategies, and social network (family and peers), to increase knowledge about culturally sensitive approaches and to suggest directions for future lines of research.
