Abstract

Using a new procedure, PZT/P(VDF-TrFE) 1-3 composites with both phases piezoelectrically active were fabricated. The composite disks were fabricated into transducers with air-backing and with no front face matching layer. The pulse-echo response, the transmitting and receiving responses of the composite transducers were evaluated in water. Results show that the performance characteristics of the PZT/P(VDF-TrFE) composite transducers are better than those of the PZT/epoxy transducer.
