Abstract

In order to minimise the damage caused by laundering, the proper engineering design of fabrics and garments as well as proper care labels are essential. In this chapter, the effects of the properties and processing parameters of fibre, yarn and fabric, as well as the effects of garment design, on laundry performance are discussed. Test methods and standards for care labelling and evaluating laundry performance of textiles and clothing are also reviewed.
