Abstract

Because the concept of sustainability includes three dimensions: economic, environmental, and social, the manufacturing system contains numerous complex influencing relationships among sustainable manufacturing (SM) factors. This circumstance hinders the advancement of sustainability. In this chapter, the social network analysis (SNA) approach is used to analyze the roles of the SM factors by taking into account their interactive relationships. Furthermore, the k-means algorithm is a distance-based algorithm, which calculates distances before assigning a point to a cluster. It was also used in this chapter to categorize the SM factors based on their centrality scores. Using this SNA-classification algorithm approach, the importance and role of each SM factor can be assessed. Based on the classification results, it was discovered that sociologists should conduct more research into the social dimension of social media.
