Abstract
The interslice forces relation f(x) or the thrust line is required for limit equilibrium analysis of slope, and it is usually considered as non-important for normal problems. The general trends of interslice force function f(x) and thrust line from strength reduction and limit equilibrium analyses are established in this study, and it is found that different f(x)/thrust line can give noticeable differences in the factoyrof safety in some cases, so f(x) or the thrust line should not be specified arbitrarily for a complicated problem.
