Abstract

The growth behavior of short fatigue crack in a single crystal nickel-based superalloy SC16 is investigated using in-situ SEM fatigue testing. The configuration of in-situ SEM fatigue testing system used is discussed. The test material has nominal chemical compositions of 3.5%Al, 3.5%Ti, 3.5%Ta, 15.4%Cr, 2.8%Mo and the balance is nickel.
