Abstract

Compared with conventional bituminous pavements, the Porous Asphalt (PA) wearing course is susceptible to a short service life attributed to the ravelling disease. Previous research found that spraying Surface Treatment (ST) bituminous emulsion might serve as an effective preventive maintenance approach to alleviate this issue. Nevertheless, the effects of ST emulsion on mechanical properties of PA mixture still unclear, thereby restricting the widespread application of this preventive maintenance technique in practice. Hence, this study aims to evaluate the short-term and long-term effects of ST emulsion on mechanical properties of PA mixture.
