Abstract

This introduction provides a brief overview of the major themes and structure of the edited volume, along with a summary of the topics covered in each chapter. The 12 chapters contained in this volume will contribute to a recently emerging research area, i.e., the interface across theoretical linguistics, second language acquisition, and language education. The volume will focus on the integration of Chinese linguistics with Chinese language education and second language (L2) Chinese acquisition, with the topics addressed ranging over linguistic approaches to Chinese language education, linguistics-based research on L2 Chinese acquisition, and linguistics-inspired new technology application in Chinese language educational settings. The insights and implications brought about by the works will inspire closer communications and collaborations between linguists and language educators, advancing research and teaching in the field of language and linguistics.
