Abstract
We have found internal friction measurement is very sensitive to phase transitions in relaxor ferroelectrics.Internal friction of relaxor ceramics(1-x%)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-x%PbTiO3(PMNTx),(0<x<33) at both low frequency(0.110 Hz) and sonic frequency(1 kHz) has been studied, which clearly exhibits a phase transition close to the freezing temperature of nano-domains.The internal friction peak due to the phase transition shows increasing peak height with the increase of PbTiO3 content.Mechanical response induced by the relaxation of nano-domains has been observed as well, which is consistent with dielectric measurements.
