Abstract

This paper presents an optofluidic Fabry-Pérot (FP) resonator which consists of a pair of liquid microlenses and a microcavity that is part of the microchannel to facilitate cell manipulation. The liquid microlenses couple light from the optical fiber to the cavity and provides a real time tuning to obtain a finesse of 18.79. The optofluidic resonator is used for the measurement of Cryptosporidium oocyst's refractive index that has high potential as a label-free biosensor with a sensitivity of 312.5 nm per RIU and a precision of 0.001 RIU.
