Abstract

Polyurethane asymmetric membranes were prepared by wet coagulation process from the PU/DMF/Span-80/OT-70 solutions, and the morphological features of cross section of the membranes were obtained by scanning electron microscopy. The influences of the non-ionic hydrophobic surfactant Span-80 and the anionic hydrophilic surfactant OT-70 on the morphology of the membranes, the mechanical properties and the water vapor permeability were studied. The formation mechanism of the membrane microstructure from different PU/DMF/surfactant systems was discussed.
