Abstract
The International Conference For Construction Information Technology 2004 was jointly organized by the Construction Industry Board of Malaysia, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The University of Salford, UK on the beautiful island of Langkawi, Malaysia between the 18th and 21st February 2004. The aim of the conference was to bring together the worlds leading figures in the field of applying information technologies to construction to address the current state of information technology in construction and the future. This snapshot of current and future intent has provided a reference point for many years to come. This special issue publishes a set of selected and revised papers originally presented at the INCITE 2004 conference. Papers selected for this special issue cover a range of topics from the use of virtual reality to enhance safety performances in construction projects, to automatic recognition of engineering drawing symbols so as to generate quantities.
