In the inner region of coaxial jet of mean velocity ratio of 0.5

Abstract

Based on conditional sampling measurements, the flow structures within the coaxial jet of mean velocity ratio of 0.5 are studied. Three trains of vortices, the outer vortices and the 'outer' and 'inner' trains of the inner vortices, are found. Interaction of the outer vortices and the 'outer' train of inner vortices is observed within the axial distance near the end of the outer potential core. There is no interaction between the 'outer' and 'inner' trains of inner vortices. The three types of vortices propagate downstream with the same convection velocity of 0.7 Uo.
