Abstract

The weak interface between shape memory alloy fiber and its surrounding matrix limits its development and application. In this paper, SiO 2 nano-particles were used to improve the interfacial strength of the shape memory alloy composite. The influence of different types and the different contents of a nano-particle were studied and the mechanism was analyzed by scanning with an electron microscope and transmission electron microscopy methods. Experimental results show that the interfacial strength of the shape memory alloy fiber-reinforced composites can be effectively improved by SiO 2 nano-particles.
