Abstract

In order to overcome the problem of being trapped into local minima encountered in applying ordinary genetic algorithm to search the critical slip surface of slope, an improved procedure based on harmony search algorithm is proposed. In the searching computation the new offspring is obtained according to the whole information of its parents. The proposed method is applied to calculate the minimum safety factors of two complicated soil slopes. The comparison of the calculation results with existing examples given by other author shows that the proposed method is feasible for stability analysis of soil slope.
