Abstract

This paper presents the concept of an industrial product-service system for CNC machine tool (mt-iPSS) based on the provision and enhancement of machining capabilities. An architecture is proposed to enable the mt-iPSS from the aspects of both hardware and software. The hardware aspect includes a combination of a machine tool and its attachments. The software aspects include four layers. They are application layer, module layer, system function layer and development supporting layer. Key techniques for implementing the architecture are discussed around a prototype for illustrating the use of the mt-iPSS concept.
