Abstract

Aim: To identify the isolated strain from the soil sample obtained near the yellow sea beach and to investigate the antibacterial and antitumor activities of its secondary metabolite as well as its structural information. Methods: The 16s r DNA and morphological characteristics of the isolated strain were investigated. BSC, the secondary metabolite of the strain, was also studied for its antibacterial and antitumor activities, as well as its structure. Results: Based on the 16s rDNA and morphological features, this new strain was confirmed to be Bacillus sp., BSC effectively inhibited the growth of bacterial and tumor cells in vitro, and the molecular formula of BSC is C48 H94 O19. Conclusion: The isolated strain belongs to Bacillus sp. BSC has fair antibacterial and antitumor activities, and it is one potential antibiotic.
