Abstract
A hydrographic surveying and mapping process for the construction of seawalls and land reclamation during the Hong Kong Disneyland Development Project is presented in this paper. The report emphasizes the broadening role of surveyors in the establishment of geographic information systems (GIS) and marine information systems (MIS) that provide geospatial information for project appraisal and risk management throughout the project life-cycle. The paper also reports on the environmental impacts to be considered during project appraisal, the mapping data required for site-assessment investigation, and the remediation work that has been accomplished in the project.
